Dang Tran Dat, MD., Ph.D.
Chief Doctor, Assistant Dean of Ophthalmology Department, National Eye Hospital since 2011.
He is a leading specialist in ophthalmology and retinal lens with nearly 20 years of expertise. After graduating as a resident ophthalmologist in Hanoi year 2002, he studied and worked at the Eye Center at Amiens University Hospital, French Republic. He then received his MD and Ph.D. in ophthalmology at Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam.
He is a leading specialist in ophthalmology and retinal lens with nearly 20 years of expertise. After graduating as a resident ophthalmologist in Hanoi year 2002, he studied and worked at the Eye Center at Amiens University Hospital, French Republic. He then received his MD and Ph.D. in ophthalmology at Hanoi Medical University, Vietnam. In addition, Mr. Dat also contributes a lot to the Associations' professional work: he is the Vice President and Secretary-General of Vietnam Vitreo-Retinopathy Association, Member of the Executive Committee of Vietnam Ophthalmology Association. He participates in numerous multinational studies and presides over ophthalmic clinical trials to treat internal and external vitreoretinopathy, such as macular degeneration in old age, retinal embolism, and retinal detachment nationally and internationally.
Besides the professional work, Dr.Dat also actively participates in teaching and giving
knowledge to fellow students and junior peers. He is a teacher of Hanoi Medical University, National University, and Military Medical Academy. He has performed tens of thousands of phaco and row photoreceptors surgeries, and thousands of retinal lens translation surgeries. He is a pioneer in technical fields, a spearhead of the ophthalmology industry in Vietnam and the world such as cornea membrane removal surgery, reverse macular flap surgery, low invasive subretinal membrane removal surgery, intraocular injection of neovascular inhibitors, corticosteroids for the treatment of macular degeneration as well as applying the world's advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies such as OCT, OCT Angiography, ICG angiography for early diagnosis, detection, and therapy which bring light and happiness to many patients and their families.
With unremitting efforts and achievements in professional work, he was honored to be
awarded by the Vietnamese Minister of Health for his contributions to the development of Ophthalmology.
